Goodbye Zerosoft

ZeroSoft Games, the host of 3 competitions with cash prizes (including the one in December I won 5th in), has shut down. It will be missed by all of its members. Especially those who participated in the competitions. Thank you Jess Horton, and good luck.

In two days I'm going to Full Sail (just visiting)! Awesome! Unfortunately it's not a behind the scenes tour but I'm sure I can find someone to talk to on campus. For those who don't know, Full Sail is the best Game Development college EVER. At least I think so. Of course, the real reason I want to go there is to make contacts and stuff but learning a few things wouldn't hurt.

Join the forums! That way I can talk to you and tell you how awesome you are for joining the best forum in the world. That was an exhaggeration. The Full Sail one wasn't. I will also be attempting to work with some people in Gloucester on their game ideas so they can get something done and find their skills in the mean time. They'll also be privvy to my best kept secret. Two totally awesome polished casual games! Muahahah. (Everyone needs testers) Also as another piece of information: I'm really excited about going to Full Sail. If I'm not careful I may use the triple exclamation mark...

*Note: The last post was not in July of 2008 I just deleted everything in between then and now. In the future there will be an archives page for old posts.

Welcome to GreenMeteorTeam.com!

Check out the games page, especially if you haven't played Sim Vassal yet. It's delightfully "DOSsy" even if you have to turn off the music (but I implore you to turn it back on as soon as you get to the purple archer gang). And of course, expect even more progress here and in game development soon!

And yes, I will tell you how the game development is going. Cold Risk is due for release on August 30th! I've really kept it under wraps for most of its development until now. Unfortunately, I have little knowledge as to how to put up a screenshot with this new CSS setup. On the other hand, text is easy. Cold Risk is a real-time strategy game much like Risk. Only Risk is turn-based, uses countries instead of cities, and is not based in the Cold War. With all the Cold War options turned on you end up with treaties allowing only the capture of neutral cities, missile silos, anti-missile radars, and a policy of brinkmanship; which is guaranteed to leave those treaties like walls of paper. And, for the first time with Green Meteor Team, we're giving Cold Risk an online highscore list! For those testers who had a hard time with the AI, you can tone down the agressiveness with little damage to your score.

Meanwhile I've been designing and working on other titles. Just today I researched the chess rating system. Now I'm ready to implement the ELO rating system using a logistical distribution into a secret title. Now if you're beginning to wonder, "What does that mean in English?" I've got your back. We're going to use a rating system in the future. You should also know that this same system is used in Diablo 2, Halo 2, Starcraft, World of Warcraft, and many other titles to rank players. The secret title will use this to rate the player relative to AI players in an important mini-game.

New Look

The new look of the website is thanks to Free CSS Templates.org. We're using the Stargazer one if you really have to know. And that's it :)
